Come Together because Here Comes the Sun!

My buddy Kevin asked me to play in a Beatles cover band recently and while I haven’t ever really been a Beatles guy, I decided to jump at the opportunity. And I’m glad I did! Most people know all of the Beatles’ big hits (there are mannnny of them), but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really enjoyed learning their music, even some of their lesser known songs.  Over the last three weeks I’ve really grown to appreciate and respect their amazing songwriting and musicianship. Some of these chord progressions and melodies are just obviously the work of […]

“Only Hope” Switchfoot cover

As I’m learning how to use this Mac, it’s been really fun to work on new videos and recordings! Here is the video for my recent video covering Switchfoot’s “Only Hope” (not Mandy Moore, Jon Foreman from Switchfoot wrote the song!).  Thanks to Gail Burnett for providing her talents on cello!  Any ideas for more covers?

“River Street”, Mousertime, and Thrilla Voutila

Just a quick “re blog” here with my friends John Mouser and Rob Voutila.  Mouser has this great site (Mousertime) where he interviews tons of artists all the time (Relient K, Matthew Mayfield, Reese Roper, Patrick Stump, Emery, and many many more).  Seriously, I don’t know how he gets hooked up with some of these world famous artists, but he does a great job with it! Just saw today that he did a video and interview with my buddy, Rob.  Rob and I have done lots of music together in the past (click here for videos) so I’m really excited […]

The Supremacy of Music

So my mom sent me a box of some old keepsakes the other day and I found this poem that I wrote in my high school Lit class. I think it’s evident that I was probably attempting to sound smarter than I was/am and use a higher level of vocabulary than I knew/know. Nevertheless, it seemed worth posting, if for no other value than entertainment. Having completely forgotten about this poem, I’m pretty excited to have come across it! Anyway, here it is below in italics to add to the ambiance (pronounced ahh-mmm-be-ahhnce and in a British accent): “The Supremacy […]

White Flag (1 guy, 8 t-shirts)

Last night I got a glimpse into the life of a video editor, and I’m still debating on how much further down that road I want to go… I have to admit, though, it’s really cool to see the finished product.  So after 5 hours of filming/recording and another 5 hours of editing (I know, I know, real video editors. That’s really not all that much time! But it’s a start.) I finally have my first video to post! In addition, I’ve entered it into this competition where to win some cool stuff from Dave Barnes and he’ll post […]

Hello! & Goodbye!

Posted on 1 CommentPosted in Faith, Life, Music

So I wanted to introduce my new site with a post I made on my band’s website in February.  I posted this about our new album that we’re releasing soon.  If you want to read more about some of the posts that came before and after this one, check out our Kickstarter updates. Feb 8, 2012: What does “This is goodnight, this is goodbye” mean to me? First of all, I just want to say I really love how the title of this album came together.  We were sitting around in a hotel last year before the “All Access Music […]
