Clay recently did a great interview with 13wmaz, central Georgia’s leading news channel talking about our album and giving some insight into our writing process, our future, and our faith. Check it out by clicking here! Don’t forget to hit the Facebook and Twitter buttons on that page
… are the greatest. When’s the last time you took a few minutes just to sit? I mean truly escape the busyness of your daily schedule and the distractions of this world to take some time to rest, relax, and be still. Do you remember? What was it like? We’ve all had those weeks from time to time where it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel and all you can think to do is get through the next thing on your agenda one at a time. Well last week was mine. About half way through […]
We’ve all heard it. Lurking just around the corner ready to attack at any moment, though it seems like it comes out of nowhere. An innocent conversation is suddenly hijacked by the selfish desire of comical praise sending the minds of those around them to dark places. I have a sense of humor. I can take a joke. Seriously. I even like to offer up my own cheap wit from time to time. But “that’s what she said”? Really? Sometimes the fact that “it’s a joke” still doesn’t make it okay. I expect to hear this phrase from some people, […]
Exactly one year ago my band got the privilege to go to Capitol Studios out in L.A. and record “Live at Capitol Studios” versions of two of our songs. It was an unforgettable experience and we feel so blessed to have won this grand prize trip in the GA Lottery’s All Access Music Search. As a celebration for the anniversary of our trip, we just posted two new music videos of our Capitol recordings. Enjoy!
My buddy Kevin asked me to play in a Beatles cover band recently and while I haven’t ever really been a Beatles guy, I decided to jump at the opportunity. And I’m glad I did! Most people know all of the Beatles’ big hits (there are mannnny of them), but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really enjoyed learning their music, even some of their lesser known songs. Over the last three weeks I’ve really grown to appreciate and respect their amazing songwriting and musicianship. Some of these chord progressions and melodies are just obviously the work of […]
In my last blog post we started exploring what it meant to truly rest and the importance of taking a weekly Sabbath. We looked at some supporting Scripture, I referenced a sermon from my RUF campus pastor, and then threw in my two cents. Now I want to take a look at how we can actively observe the Sabbath. “Rest and think about God” – A child like faith can be very encouraging sometimes! I find it interesting that the Commandment about the Sabbath is one of the two that are written as a “thou shalt” instead of a “thou shalt […]
So today is a very exciting day! Not only is it America’s glorious birthday, but it is also the release day for my band’s very first full length album! That’s right, we watched the clock tick down to midnight to see our album go live on iTunes! If you want to check it out on iTunes, just click the picture above! Or if you prefer, it’s available on Amazon MP3 and thekeymusic.com too!
As I’m learning how to use this Mac, it’s been really fun to work on new videos and recordings! Here is the video for my recent video covering Switchfoot’s “Only Hope” (not Mandy Moore, Jon Foreman from Switchfoot wrote the song!). Thanks to Gail Burnett for providing her talents on cello! Any ideas for more covers?
So we had a really exciting day yesterday in receiving our 1,000 physical copies of my band’s very first album! We got all the excitement on camera! See below…
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” – Mark 2:27 ________________________________________________________________________ I’m not sure who this post will be most helpful for: workaholics who have a hard time resting, or “rest-aholics” who don’t work enough or even know how to really rest. Either way, I hope this can encourage you in some way. The purpose of this post is not to dive in to whether the Sabbath is really on Saturday, Sunday, or whatever day you think it should be (that would be a much longer discussion and one in which I’m probably not qualified to lead). […]
